Created by Jon Kabat-Zinn, recognised and taught across the world, the MBSR is a scientifically backed course that is proven to make lasting changes in people in reducing stress and anxiety.
Key learning:
1) A mix of formal and informal mindfulness meditation practices;
2) A simple understanding of the physiology of stress and its role in our lives, ensuring we understand its purpose and how to regulate it effectively;
3) Learn to recognise different thought patterns and how they impact our feelings and actions;
4) Learn to relate to ourselves with kindness and compassion;
5) Create a personalised self-care tool kit to manage regulation and help us live a more balanced and positive life.
Course structure:
The course is a mix of online sessions and independent home tasks with a maximum of 12 people for the duration of the 8-weeks.
Each week, there will be a 2-hr live session where all participants are visible and able to interact. The session is structured so that Malou leads you through practical meditations, taught insights and group discussions. There is no pressure to share, but there is great benefit in doing so.
Inbetween live sessions, participants will be asked to follow the learning for the week, which simply requires them to practice a given meditation (provided as an audio download) each day. There is also an e-book, which not only has a summary of learning for each week, but also space for guided journalling, for participants to complete after each meditation. It is a simple journal: there is no right or wrong, just space for reflection.
At the end of the course, participants will continue to have access to the meditations for their own personal use.
Malou is available via email, between sessions for any participant who may have urgent questions relating to the course.
Please note: the impact of the course is dependent on participation. If the meditations are practised regularly, as instructed, and with reflection time afterwards, then particpants will notice the following benefits:
1) A sense of calm, even amidst challenging situations;
2) Recognise different emotional states in themselves and be better skilled to manage them;
3) Be more present and focused on tasks and in situations;
4) Increase engagement and satisfaction in different areas of life;
5) Improve communication skills;
6) Build resilience and improve productivity.
